Unexpected beauty of the bridge built in 1886, and location. A great curiosity to break up the trip about 14mins off the main road. Interesting story board at the site. Also well laid out picnic area with toilet facilities, shade and dressing and also public BBQ. Drove the car across the old wooden bridge. Great experience as you realize it is a little scary and exciting too.
Must see this oldest bridge in Queensland. Magnificent views of the Mary River. Are able to drive across (15T limit), but not allowed to walk across for safety reasons.
What a great piece of history , also a great rv park with toilets and barbie, can walk down to river have a fish or a swim, not sure if allowed to fish atm due to the close season on mary cod but I'm sure someone would know
This is a substantial old bridge over a very nice river. Pity it's unsuitable for pedestrians and cyclists to cross and use for a viewing platform. The picnic area has just been refreshed and is very clean and presentable.
Fantastic look back on history. Highlighting the rise of the Mary River during flood times.
Hopefully Council, state government and railways keep up the maintenance.
Historical landmark with nearby rest area. Unfortunately the day we visited it was closed for maintenance. Will return to spend more time exploring. Few historical reads online relating to the history of the bridge.
Nearby Theebine pub was great to refresh and refuel or bodies.
Considering the age the bridge is in top condition, very well looked after. Plenty on information on the the boards to read all about it. What a shame about poor workers. Would be very interesting to visit at night.
Very clean amenitites and plenty of room to park.
This is an amazing old bridge over the Mary River and the oldest bridge of it's type still usable in Queensland.
Nice park to pull over to have a cuppa in and take photos, great views to be seen and there's also toilet facilities.
